Every freshman hall has a different feel, set by the residents who live there. Everyone there is new to college, so there are plenty of people who share fears and successes. There will be some conflict and chaos, but also a lot of fun. Some halls set rules, like hours to be quiet; other halls don’t, so you might have to knock on a door and ask them to turn down the opera that’s blasting. Finally, your freshman hall is the closest living experience you are likely to have -- ever. You will know all of your hall mates, and your R.A.s will plan fun social activities. Freshman year is awesome, so don’t let someone’s noise or mess or obnoxious behavior ruin your experience. Everyone I’ve spoken to agrees that their best friends from college lived on their freshman hall, so don’t be afraid to knock on doors or spark a conversation in the bathroom.
